  2. Avery and I decided to go with the ideas you all gave in class. Our research is now looking at performance levels rather than stress levels. we decided to change our experiment so that the participants are playing a game (tetris) instead of taking a math test. We plan on giving them a survey of questions before and after the game to see if their thoughts about music and its effect on performance change in any way. We are gonna keep the same group of participants and use the freshmen psychology classes.

  3. I unfortunately never got to start my pilot study because I worked full time all week and then ended up getting sick and being in the hospital. Once I am back at school and feeling better I will then be able to begin my study. I hoping I can have it started by this weekend and have the whole study be done by the end of the week. I already know who my participants will be, so I just need to start and finish it.

  4. I have some really good ideas about how to run the experiment, but I just wanted to meet up with you that way I could have a better idea of exactly what I plan to do to make it an experiment opposed to a correlation study. I have found people that are willing to participate in the experiment I just have to completely figure out the exacts before I decide to give it to them.I believe I am doing good so far, I just need a little more information in order to make me feel like I am on the right track, and closer to running the experiment. So I would like to meet with you to talk about some things that I plan to do and get some ideas for others to help me move a little faster. Other than that I plan to run the experiment within the next week or so.

  5. I spent my spring break in New Orleans working with St. Bernard Project to rebuild homes, so I was unable to do a pilot study or work toward getting closer to the completion of my experiment. However, I feel confident in the direction that my experiment is headed in. I have revised my likert scale to four points in order to eliminate the option of neutral emotion and am now just trying to think of a creative way to present colors to the participants to get them engaged in the experiment.

  6. During my break I was no able to conduct my pilot study at the barber shop which really blew. But I did get around to have some people complete the Big five for me and also send me screen shots of their top 25 playlist. What I need to do now is continue and finish up a few more people for my study. I am completely confident and happy in which the direction my study is going.

  7. I was able to develop my questionnaire over break. At the end of the week before spring break I did send an email to the women's lax coach unfortunately he did not get back to me till this Monday so I have a meeting with him tomorrow to hopefully sit down and plan a time in the next week where I can do the study. I really want to get the study done by next week so that it gives me plenty of time to get all my results together.

  8. I have been working on putting together my PowerPoint over break and everything. I am working on getting together the pictures of my real couples and editing them so that they are have a generic background. Once I am almost done with that I am going to do my surveys and questionnaires. I spoke with Dr. McCoy yesterday about using one of his General Psych classes for my research and I set a date up with him. I am going to be working to get my PowerPoint fully completed by the end of this week or early next week so that I can start running the experiment and recording my results.

  9. I emailed Dr. Kolek about fining a way of manipulating impulsivity in my participant, but my plan is to manipulate them and put them in two seperate groups- impulsive and not impulsive and then give them a survey that has filler questions, personal questions about body modifications, questions on impulsivity. I think that i am pointing in a better direction now and i have a better idea of exactly what i want to do, its just a matter of meeting with Dr. Kolek and figuring out exactly how i can manipulate impulsivity and get more information on how i could measure it. Also i was planning on measuring creativity aswell because i think that would also be something really interesting to know so i am going to look up creaetivity tests and see if i could incorporate the two

  10. I had issues over break. I attempted to recruit family to pilot my experiment, however realized that 3 of my 5 subjects had learning disabilities and the other two didn't want to be quote "guinea pigs". I also had some concerns about how to indicate to the volunteers to bring "gym appropriate" shoes on the day of the experiment.
