  1. Now that your methods sections are complete you should be able to begin collecting the materials you need to conduct your studies.

  2. So I thought I would be able to start experiment this week or next week but now that I think about it and look at the team schedule, getting them to meet with me twice is probably going to be more difficult than just having them meet with me once. I hope that a week or two after spring break I will be able to meet with them to conduct me experiment and gather my data. I did start putting together the questionnaire that I am going to give them and think that it will really help me collect good data from my participants.

  3. During and after spring break I will be meeting with people to see if they want to participate in my experiment, and will hopefully have enough time to be able to meet twice with them, but I was thinking that I could also email them to people if I needed to and I was pushing for time. I think I am headed in the right direction I just need a few pointers on what I can do to make my experiment feel complete, I know there is something missing and I cant seem to figure out what it is so I would like to get a little help with that but otherwise I am pretty confident that this will work out and show me some good data.

  4. Personally for me I am going to conduct some pilot studies over the break. Such as the one in the barbershop - changing the music and seeing the customers reactions - while having the employees as cooperates. I also want to start putting pieces of my project together and getting everything situated and ready to get the ball moving after break. Right now I want to try more of a trail and error and see what will and will not work.

    1. Brittany, are you going to use a hidden camera? I think the customer reactions are going to be pretty funny to watch.

  5. Whew... Is anyone else's brain mush after putting together the Methods section?
I tried to give enough detail to make the study duplicatable, but not enough to get nitpicky. I finally decided that I will use 2 groups counterbalanced. Group 1 no exercise to start, then physical exercise, then mental exercise and Group 2 no exercise, then mental exercise, then physical exercise. That way I only need to meet twice, not 3 times. I am going to pilot study the family over break and maybe some of my daughters friends. I decided to use standard questions off of GED tests from McGraw Hill for my written exams. I can get the questions and the answers from their website. I still have to decide on which progressive relaxation technique I want to use from You Tube. There are some great ones and terrible ones. Then I have to watch for time constraints that they aren't too long. Some of them go on for an hour and over.

  6. Now that I have all of my seven annotated bibliographies, I put them together in a reference section. I put together my part of our introduction but we have not put all of articles together and included them into one introduction. I am still working on figuring out the method section. Avery and I have not decided exactly what our experiment is going to be yet.

  7. Now that I have started a working draft for my methods section I have started to complete stuff that I will need for the actual research. I have started putting together some of the surveys and questionnaires that I am going to be giving out to participants. I have also started to put together the PowerPoint that I will eventually be adding the pictures of the couples into. I am still working on how I am going to incorporate/test sexual imprinting into the research and observations that I will be getting from the participants. During spring break I am going to be trying to organize as much of the little things that I will need together so that when I come back from break I will be able to start getting participants and feedback from them within the few weeks we are back.

  8. So with me and Kaylee running behind schedule, we fortunately have come up with good information with our new articles and our new topic. Our intro is being worked on currently, leaving our method in the process of getting done. We want to make a good intro with our 14 articles, so that our method will run smoothly to write.

  9. i have started my methods section so now I have a better understanding of my actual experiment and how its going to plan out. I need to figure out my control group, though. I think I'm going to come up with another scenario for the control, I just don't know what it'll be. I'm not sure if I should have a happier scenario, or just a generalized one. If I do a generalized one, I don't know what's generalized in a relationship. Maybe I just won't have a scenario in that group at all and I will just have them do the two surveys.

  10. Now that the methods section is complete it is easier to really plan out how the experiment will turn out. I have decided to focus on gender differences in color associations rather than just color associations in general. Therefore, I will have to have an even, or at least close to even ratio of male and female participants. I am unsure still of how I am going to go about my questionnaire. I have the option of a 5 point likert scale indicating different emotions and scaling them based on relevance to the associations or to simply ask the participants to identify an emotion on the questionnaire.

  11. I have officially gotten all of my materials I need to continue to do my experiment. I have a blood pressure monitor to get the participants blood pressure and I have thermometers to measure their body temps. I know who exactly is going to be in my study and I will start my experiment over break I will then hopefully be able to finish it the week we come back from break.
