  1. I'm still slightly unsure what my approach will be to this experiment. Most of the articles that I read and used discussed color associations. They stated that colors are associated with all kinds of things such as emotions, music tempo, holidays, genders, and flavors. I think that the most do-able experiment would be to investigate the effect of colors on emotion. To do this I would show the participants different colors and ask them how the color made them feel. I might include a list of emotions for them to choose from and include an "other" space if the emotion they feel is not listed. This may make the coding easier later on. I would also see why these colors made them feel this way and see what the colors are associated with. For example, in many studies that I have read people like the color blue because it reminds them of the sky or the ocean which has a positive emotion associated.

  2. I am still not sure what my thesis statement should be. I do have my research topic all set though which, is meditation and its effect on ones heart rate, blood pressure, and body temp. I want to have 16 participants, one group of 8 will be non meditators and the other group of 8 will be people who meditate regularly. I will then compare the two and base my research paper off of that. I am still open for more ideas that I can do for my experiment. This is not 100% what I want to do yet but it is what I am leaning towards and what I will most likely be doing.

  3. Avery and I decided that our topic was far too broad, just lying in general we could not find any decent articles that we liked enough. We decided to switch our topic to lies with in relationships. We want to look at how and why people lie in relationships and the differences, if there are any between men lying vs. women lying. We found that this more specific topic is helping us focus better on what exactly to be looking for. Since we are behind with our articles we still don’t have it figured out yet, how exactly we are going to measure this. We still are not exactly sure if this is what we are going to do, but we are giving it a try to see if it works out better for us.

  4. I believe that I am on the right track, I have a few really good articles to help push me in the right direction. I am still doing my experiment on tattoos and impulsiveness in college students. I think one of the hardest part of this study will be to find people with more than one tattoo, I know there is enough people with tattoos it is just a matter of finding them around campus. I need to figure out what I am running whether it be a role play or a questionnaire, and i also need to figure out what I plan to manipulate. I have two really good articles on tattoos and risky behavior, I just can't seem to find that many so it is becoming a little tough. I think I am on the right track, I just need to really figure out what I am going to run, whats being manipulated and the people that I plan to use.

  5. I think that I finally thought of a good way of looking at sports leadership. I think that looking at the number of formal and informal leaders on a team and the overall record of the team would be interesting. I feel that leadership is important in making a team a successful one. I was able to email Charlie and now I am just waiting for a response back to set up a meeting with her. Hopefully she can give me so good information on leadership that will help me when it comes to running an experiment.

    1. Maybe look at leadership differenced between sports teams. Which has the most leadership etc.

  6. On a positive note, I thought that the Title Page was the easiest assignment we have had so far! Yay! (smiley face!)
So far I have my articles, plus some input from some that I couldn't us for the annotated bibliography due to missing pieces, but that still had some pertinent results and information that I can use.
I believe I have figured out what my "aerobic" activity will be for the exercise portion to get the old heart pumping. There is an activity that I have seen used in the past. Here is how it goes:
Perform a group sing along to the song "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean..." Whenever the group sings a word that starts with "B" they stand up or sit down (whatever is opposite to the position they are in). This gets the group moving up and down. You sing it slowly at first and progressively get faster each time you sing it. This not only gets the heart pumping, it makes everyone laugh as they mess up getting up or down out of sync with everyone else.
For the Progressive Relaxation I have found a couple of sites that have scripted directions and then others that you can play and listen to instead. Haven't decided on what I want to use yet.
Excited to get started with the pilot experiment.

  7. At this point I am very satisfied with how my work is going. I am excited to start running some practice test so that I can get a better understanding of what is going on. I have some articles that really helped me and will give me a jump start. I actually found an article where they already have test made and I am going to work off those questions with a few alterations. I haven't decided on whether or not I would like to work with males or females or a coloration of both. I still need to just dig a little deeper and continue on some more research. So far everything is looking well and going on a positive note.

  8. So far I feel that I've made a lot of progress with my work, I have started to look at some different ways of organizing my research. I am not sure yet exactly how I will run the experiment but I am starting to look at some different options. I found a websites that I think will be really helpful for me; one of them is a dating website that matches people based on several facial characteristics so I think that I might try to use that.
I think that now that I have finished all of the annotated bibliographies I can start to look at more magazine articles that look at this area. There were several different authors of magazines that wrote about facial similarities in couples that I think will be helpful for me.
I am still trying to figure out how to select my couples that I will be using, I am not sure if I want to use couples from school or if I should just use a variety of different couples from school and outside sources. I think that if I am able to get onto the dating website I found, I might try and use some of their "successful" couples and then I also am looking to see if I can find the characteristics that they compare and try and do that with the couples that I would be using.
I think overall I am pretty well organized with everything that I am going to do and now just need to start going through and sorting out which way would be the best for my research.

  9. Kaylee and I decided that our topic was too broad so we decided to switch our topic to lies with in relationships. We want to look at how and why people lie in relationships and the differences with men and woman. We got some good results, but not really enjoying this topic as much as we should be.

  10. I'm still a little unsure how I want to go about my experiment. I'm thinking if I do a role play type, maybe I could do two scenarios, one about infidelity, and one saying their significant other just proposed and study how they react and feel. I could see if there is a gender difference in reactions. Do men react more to infidelity than women? Are women more excited to be proposed to than men? At this age, I think the participants would be a little freaked out. I'm also thinking my participants should be in a relationship to be allowed to participate and if I do that I'm not sure if I should have it be required that they be in that relationship for a certain length of time to be allowed to participate.
